中华民国三年袁大头
中华民国三年袁大头壹元是民国三年铸造的袁世凯流通币。袁世凯（1859年9月16日—1916年6月6日），中国近代史上著名的政治、军事人物，北洋军阀领袖。字慰亭（又作慰廷），号容庵、洗心亭主人，汉族，河南项城人，故人称“袁项城”。此时期，袁世凯担任“临时大总统”及正式大总统，推动币制改革以稳固政局并发展经济。为实现这一目标，袁世凯颁布了《国币条例》，并决心统一全国币制。当时，币制混乱，银币、铜币、制钱与钞票并行。

自民国三年首次铸造后，该币便被定为中华民国国币，地位显赫。“袁大头”由天津造币厂首先开铸，其后南京、广东、武昌、甘肃等地的造币分厂陆续铸造，由于其银两分量足、信誉好，成为民国时期乃至往后更长时间中国各地大量使用的通行货币。”
